Description: |
Do your students seem intrigued by books about sharks, mummies, animals, and places around the world? Although many of these non-fiction texts may be above your students’ reading levels, they certainly hold your students’ attention and interest. This session will take a look at non-fiction as a genre and how to use students’ fascination with these topics as a hook to develop important lifelong reading skills. We will dig into non-fiction texts and discover what captivates the students and how we can facilitate their reading comprehension and growth through content area reading strategies. (Limited to 25 participants – register early). |
