Leadership Academy for Practicing Building-Level Administrators

Description:

“Effective July 1, 2007, school administrators shall earn at least five renewal credits during each renewal cycle that focus on the principal’s role in teacher effectiveness, teacher evaluations, teacher support programs, teacher leadership, teacher empowerment, and teacher retention.”  (GS 115C-12(9)a)
To assist administrators in this process the Northwest RESA (with the support of member superintendents) is offering an exciting and innovative academy for practicing administrators in northwest North Carolina.  This academy will focus on the above mandate:  teacher recruitment, teacher empowerment, and teacher retention.  Topics will include:  Interviewing Skills for Administrators, Nurturing Your Employees, Politics in Education, Teacher Retention, School Finance and Resource Management, Evaluation and Documentation and Monitoring Instruction.  Participants will also have a short reading assignment.  Enrollment will be limited.  Therefore, participants must have the approval of their superintendent or superintendents’ designee to enroll in this academy.  Please refer to the approval section below.
